Barrydowne and Azilda Shooting Related

Approximately 11pm a black pickup with two occupants travelling southbound on Barrydowne in the area of Hawthorne and Gemmel was stuck with gunfire by another vehicle also travelling southbound.

The suspect vehicle which can only be described as light colored SUV or minivan.

The victims in this incident were not injured as a result of gunfire; however, one of the occupants was slightly injured by shattered glass.

The investigation is in its early stages but it is believed that the Azilda and Barrydown shootings are linked. They do not appear to be random.

Police would not comment on possible motives but said that victims are cooperating with police.

Greater Sudbury Police are requesting the assistance of the public.

Anyone who may have been in the area at that time and may have observed anything suspicious is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers, which is offering a guaranteed $2,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest of those involved in the shootings.
