(SUDBURY, ON) – On August 21, 2014 at 11:25 p.m., officers from the Sudbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a three vehicle collision on Highway 17 Southwest by-pass, between Southview Drive and Fielding Rd. in the City of Greater Sudbury.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a westbound pick-up truck collided head-on with two eastbound vehicles (a car and a pick-up truck).

The male driver of the westbound truck suffered non-life threatening injuries and remains in hospital.

The male driver of the eastbound truck was transported to hospital by ambulance where he was treated for minor injuries and released.

The male driver, from Sudbury, of the eastbound car was pronounced dead at the scene.

The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The investigation is continuing and charges are pending.
