Suspicious Incident on Lillian Street in Val Therese

Thursday afternoon, August 20th, shortly after 2 pm, police received reports from city contractors that they had located what was believed to be human remains in a sewer on Lillian St, Val Therese. They could observe this on their video inspection equipment. Police attended with forensic officers and were unable to confirm through video what they were seeing was in fact human remains or not.

Shortly after 7:00 pm, a visual inspection was made in the sewer and it was confirmed to be debris and refuse that had come to rest in a manner consistent with human skeletal remains. An expert examination has now confirmed the remains are not human or skeletal.

Police thank the public for their patience while this matter was investigated. The scene has now been cleared by police.

Update August 20th, 2015 7:00pm - We hearing from the bystanders at the scene that police have taped off the road and there is a lot of police activity around a manhole on Lillian street closest to Dominion Drive.

Police are now on scene on Lillian Street, Valley East investigating a suspicious incident. They say there is little information to provide to the public at this time except that there is no danger to the public.

Why in God's name would there be a release stating police are currently investigating a suspicious incident and give approximate location? Curious people like me now want to go and check it out. So if they were trying to have people avoid the area, now they have aroused curiosity and traffic likely to increase.
