On the 3rd of October 2015, at 03:50 A.M. the Greater Sudbury Police Service responded to an Assault complaint on Notre Dame Avenue in Azilda.

Our ongoing investigation has revealed that an 88 Year Old male assaulted a 79 year old female. Both of these persons are currently in hospital with serious injuries.

As a result of this assault, charges are pending against the 88 year old male.

The Greater Sudbury Police Service says they have been at the scene of a serious incident on Notre Dave Ave., Azilda since 03:45 this morning.

Police have a suspect in custody and the investigation is continuing with the Criminal Investigations Division.

Police want to assure the public that this is an isolated incident and there is no concern for public safety.
