Yesterday evening a 26 year old male got his truck stuck in slush on a local lake. He decided to use a backhoe to try to remove the truck. He then went through the ice with the backhoe. Fortunately he was unhurt. However, he neglected to inform the Police that this occurred. This morning a citizen called to report the discovery of the backhoe through the ice thinking it must have just occurred. Police, Fire and EMS attended thinking someone was trapped in the vehicle. Citizens are reminded to call Police if their vehicle goes through the ice so that we are aware and we won’t have to tie up emergency resources needlessly.
