Possible Traffic Disruption on Paris Street – Bridge of Nations

The Greater Sudbury Police Service would like to advise the public of possible traffic disruptions this evening, in the area of the Bridge of Nations, on Paris Street in Greater Sudbury.

Later today, members from the “Standing Rock Solidarity Movement” are planning a walk commencing at the CP lot on Elgin Street across from the Sudbury Arena.

The expected route for this walk will continue East on Van Horne Street to Paris Street. A Round dance will occur within the intersection. The walk will continue Southbound on Paris Street where a second Round dance will occur within the intersection of Paris Street and John Street. The walk will then return Northbound on Paris Street ending back on Van Horne Street. Participants will then line up on the sidewalk on the Bridge of Nations and hold a candlelight vigil.

The event will begin at 6:00 p.m. and is expected to conclude at approximately 8:30 p.m.

There may be traffic delays. The public is encouraged to be patient when travelling in the area of Paris Street and the Bridge of Nations this evening and to be respectful to all pedestrians. Motorists may want to consider alternate routes this evening.
