HSN Foundation raises over $94,000 to support NEO Kids at the Brian Savage Mulligans for NEO Kids Golf Classic!

Health Sciences North Foundation is proud to announce that the Brian Savage Mulligans for NEO Kids Golf Classic that took place on July 25, 2014, at the Idylwylde Golf & Country Club raised over $94,000 to support the North Eastern Ontario Health Centre for Kids (NEO Kids).

“We are very excited that the Brian Savage Mulligans for NEO Kids Golf Classic was such a huge success.” says Mary Lou Hussak, Executive Director of Health Sciences North Foundation. Mary Lou added “the amount of support and encouragement from our community was astonishing and thank everyone who was involved in this success”.

“I am very honoured to be a part of this tournament and I am so pleased to lend my name to such an important cause in our community. My family and I are already looking forward to next year,” says Brian Savage, former NHL Hockey Player and Honorary Chair of the Brian Savage Mulligans for NEO Kids Golf Classic.

The Pare family has been travelling out of town to access treatment for their two children for over 12 years, and know first-hand of the challenges this presents. Melissa Pare, mother of this year’s Golf Champion, Benjamin, says, “We are so very grateful and happy knowing that families like us will now be able to stay closer to home for treatment and follow-ups. I know I am speaking for many of the families in our community that have small children who have to travel out of town for treatments when I say, thank you from the bottom of our hearts”.

All proceeds raised from the Brian Savage Mulligans for NEO Kids Golf Classic will support Health Sciences North’s NEO Kids. NEO Kids will centralize and increase outpatient treatment programs that will provide children, youth and their families the benefit of expert health care within our region, offering a wide range of vital health care services and bringing care closer to the children and families of northeastern Ontario. NEO Kids will be equipped with the most current and innovative equipment and will enable medical teams from all pediatric related disciplines to work more collaboratively. Pediatric clinics and services will flourish in our own back yard.
