As announced in last night’s episode of The Amazing Race Canada, the popular show will feature Greater Sudbury on its program airing Wednesday, August 12. Together with Ontario Tourism, Tourism Northern Ontario and other community partners, the City of Greater Sudbury’s Economic Development team worked with CTV and the show’s producers to showcase Greater Sudbury as part of this season.
"The Amazing Race Canada is the most watched Canadian television series on CTV,” said Greater Sudbury Mayor Brian Bigger. “It is their number-one program of the summer overall. Greater Sudbury's inclusion in the show will significantly raise the profile of our amazing community. This type of endorsement will certainly increase the awareness of Greater Sudbury as a tourism destination, as well as a centre for mining, innovation, education and healthcare.”
“It has been an absolute pleasure to bring The Amazing Race Canada to Greater Sudbury and I think audiences from coast to coast to coast will be surprised to see just how cool this place really is,” said John Brunton, executive producer, Insight Productions. “From the moment we arrived, our entire cast and crew was welcomed with open arms, making for an amazing production experience. You won’t want to miss all the surprises, including a Canadian Icon who makes a special trip back to his hometown!”
Season 3 of The Amazing Race Canada has been watched by one in four Canadians (8.9 million viewers). To celebrate this national broadcast, The Amazing Race Canada Community Viewing Party is planned for Wednesday, August 12, from 8 to 10 p.m. to take place outside on the grounds of Science North. Residents are invited to come and enjoy popcorn under the stars as the community watches The Amazing Race Canada competitors race across the city during Episode 6. Viewers can also join the conversation on social media by using the #AmazingRaceSudbury hashtag.
The Amazing Race Canada airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT this summer on CTV and CTV GO. The program will promote Greater Sudbury as a dynamic community and an exciting tourism destination to millions of Canadians across the country.
