Updated - April 24th, 2016 11:15pm: On the 24th of April 2016 at 9:17am. Uniform Division officers were dispatched to a weapons complaint on Main Street in Val Caron. A verbal and physical altercation occurred in the early hours between several parties which resulted in one of the parties retrieving a shotgun from the residence and pointing it at the victim.

No shots were fired.

Uniform and Tactical officers attended the area and after a short foot pursuit the party who had been in possession of the firearm was arrested without incident and the shotgun, as well as narcotics and explosives were recovered.

A search warrant was executed at the residence, and for an associated vehicle.

The accused has been charged with numerous weapons, explosive and drug related charges. He is being held for a bail hearing in the morning.

This matter has been turned over to the Criminal Investigation Division.

Police have not disclosed the reason for their presence remain on the scene but say that this incident is not related to the remains found in the south end last night.

They say there will be a media release to provide more information. We'll provide that update as soon as we receive it.
