Novice driver wrecks on Bancroft with BAC over zero; passenger suffers serious injuries

The Greater Sudbury Police Service’s Uniform Division responded at 1:30 a.m. on the 17th of July 2016 to a serious single motor vehicle collision on Bancroft Drive near Lonsdale Avenue. Investigation with the assistance of the Traffic Management Unit revealed that a 21 year old male was driving down Bancroft Drive towards the Kingsway at a high rate of speed. His passengers consisited of an 18 year old female and a 19 year old male. At some point just before Lonsdale Avenue the vehicle left the road and struck a mailbox which ultimately caused it to flip over and land on it’s roof demolishing the vehicle. All three parties were taken to Health Sciences North. The driver and the 18 year old female were treated for their injuries and released. The 19 year old male was admitted to hospital with serious in juries. The driver was charged with Impaired Driving Causing Bodily Harm, Over 80 Causing Bodily Harm, and Novice Driver Drive Motor Vehcle With a Blood Concentration Above Zero.

Drivers a peice of work, hope the passengers are okay and have a good recovery, but also learned from this experience.
