Body Discovered in Lumsden Rd Structure Fire

Update - August 3rd, 2016 6:00pm: The OFM and GSPS Investigators continued through the day on the forensic examination of the fire scene; with the assistance of Forensic Anthropologist, Dr. Scott Fairgrieve.
The structure is confirmed to be a recreational camper trailer that had been permanently set up on the property at 162/184 Lumsden Rd, Blezard Valley. Attempts to positively identify the deceased are ongoing.
A post mortem is scheduled for Thursday morning as CID Detectives continue with the Coroner’s investigation. GSPS Investigators appreciate the information and assistance provided by the community today, police remind anyone with information to contact them at 705-675-9171.

At approximately 6:30 pm, on the 2nd of August, Greater Sudbury Fire Service responded to a call of a structure fire on Lumsden Road, Blezard Valley. Once the fire was extinguished, a body was discovered in the ruins of the fire.

The Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office along with GSPS Criminal Investigations Division are conducting the joint investigation.
The forensic examination of the scene will be ongoing throughout the coming days to determine the cause of the fire; while Detectives attempt to positively identify the deceased.
