Power Outage: Approximately 7,300 Hydro One Customers without power overnight

Update: November 20th, 2016 10:30am - Power was restored to the final 1,100 customers in Hanmer around 10:30am following a widespread overnight outage that affected 7,300 Hydro One customers during it's peak.

The outage started around 2:00am effecting a large area that extended from Valley East, through Azilda to Lively and beyond and left some customers without power  for around 8 hours.

Hydro One says the outage was caused by extreme weather conditions, a blown transformer, and downed lines.

Update: Power Outage - Approximately 1100 Hydro One customers in Hanmer are still without power this morning following an large outage last night that left around 7100 area residents from Valley East, Azilda and Lively without power for part of the night.

The estimated time to repair has been updated to 12:00pm today for those still affected.

Updated - November 20th, 2016 4:15am - Power has been restored to the southern section of the outage. Two major outages remain affecting approximately 3,700 customers. The ETR for the Valley Caron outage is approximately 6:45am while the Hanmer outage is around 10:00am.

Updated - November 20th, 2016 3:45am - Updated outage map shows multiple outages affecting approximately 7800 customers with varying ETR from 6:45am to 10:00 for the Northern section.

Northern Internet Solution

There are reports of a transformer fire on a pole on Gravel Drive in Hanmer and downed lines across the highway in McRae Heights. It's also reported that MR#80 is closed as a result. Motorists will have to find alternate routes.

There are currently reports of widespread outages affecting many areas North and West of the city.

Approximately 7,100 customers from Valley East to Lively and and beyond currently without power at this time.

Hydro One says it currently does not have an Estimated Time to Repair although their website says 6:00am
