Possible traffic disruption on Elm Street and Durham Street

The Greater Sudbury Police Service would like to advise the public of possible traffic disruptions today, during the early afternoon, in the area of Elm Street and Durham Street in the downtown core of Greater Sudbury.
This afternoon, members from the Revolutionary Student Movement are planning an information rally to be held in the downtown core to protest Public School closures and education cuts.
The event will begin at 3:00 p.m. and is expected to continue until 5:00 p.m.
The Greater Sudbury Police Service respects everyone’s right of freedom of expression and peaceful assembly.
The role of the Greater Sudbury Police Service is to ensure public safety and to keep the peace. Activities may interrupt the normal flow of traffic on Elm Street and Durham Street. Members of the Greater Sudbury Police will be present, working with organizers to ensure the safe and orderly movement of traffic.
Motorists are encouraged to be patient when travelling in the downtown core this afternoon and to be respectful to all pedestrians. Motorists may want to consider alternate routes.
