Lefebvre & Serré announce Federal investment in Cambrian College #Sudbury

(GREATER SUDBURY) The federal government is investing $2,145,644 in mining initiatives at Cambrian College of Applied Arts and Technology for its Mine Environmental Stewardship Initiative.

The announcement, made by Sudbury MP Paul Lefebvre and Nickel Belt MP Marc Serré on behalf of the Honourable Kirsty Duncan, Minister of Science, reinforces Greater Sudbury’s position as one of the largest integrated mining and mineral processing centres in the world.

Cambrian’s Mine Environmental Stewardship Initiative will help address projects dealing with prevention and remediation in view of the mining industry impact on multiple environmental subjects as well as occupational health.

As Northern Ontario’s largest community college with more than 4,400 students and over 70 programs, highlighted by Cambrian's Schools of Skills Training (31 programs), of Engineering Technology (5 programs), and of Environmental Studies (3 programs), Cambrian College has a direct impact on the mineral processing landscape.

This investment in Cambrian is part of a $37.4 million investment in 37 projects through the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada’s (NSERC) College and Community Innovation (CCI) Program.

The CCI Program supports applied research and collaborations that lead to commercialization and technology transfer while facilitating the development of new technologies and innovative collaboration in communities across the country.
