Impaired Related charges as published by the Greater Sudbury Police Service from March 3rd to March 30, 2014

On Monday, March 3, 2014 at approximately 02:06 a.m., members of the Greater Sudbury Police Service observed a Highway Traffic Act infraction on Alder St., Sudbury and subsequently conducted a traffic stop. The male driver of the red 2007 Mazda was found to have been drinking. The roadside resulted in a Fail. The driver was taken into custody at the scene and escorted to police headquarters. The results of the breath tests indicated that the driver was over the legal limit.

Kyle Walton (27yrs) was charged with Driving with More than 80 mgs. of alcohol in Blood contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada as well as other Highway Traffic Act offences. He was issued a 90 day ADLS suspension and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days. Walton was released from custody and was compelled to attend court in March.

On Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at approximately 00:52 a.m., members of the Greater Sudbury Police Service observed a Highway Traffic Act infraction on Hannah St., Capreol and subsequently conducted a traffic stop. The male driver of the silver 2000 Pontiac Sunfire was found to have been drinking. The roadside test resulted in a Fail. The driver was taken into custody at the scene and escorted to police headquarters. The breath tests indicated that the driver was over the legal limit.

Denis Levesque (44yrs) was charged with Driving with More than 80mgs of Alcohol in Blood contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada and other criminal and Highway Traffic Act offences. He was issued a 90 day ADLS suspension and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days. Levesque was released from custody and was compelled to attend court in March.

On Friday, March 14, 2014 at approximately 10:26 a.m., members of the Greater Sudbury Police Service responded to a motor vehicle collision in the area of Cedar St., Sudbury. The male driver of the black 1997 Honda CLL was found to have been drinking. The roadside test resulted in a Fail. The driver was taken into custody at the scene and escorted to police headquarters. The results of the breath tests indicated that the driver was almost three times the legal limit.

Robert Verdegem (52yrs) was charged with Care or Control While Impaired and Care or Control Over 80 mgs. contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He was issued a 90 day ADLS suspension and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days. Verdegem was released from custody and was compelled to attend court in March.

On Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at approximately 01:05 a.m., members of the Greater Sudbury Police Service observed a Highway Traffic Act infraction on Regent St., Sudbury and subsequently conducted a traffic stop. The male driver of the red 2010 Chevrolet Aveo was found to have been drinking. The driver was taken into custody at the scene and escorted to police headquarters. The results of the breath tests indicated that the driver was over twice the legal limit.

Kevan Frank (35yrs) was charged with Driving While Ability Impaired and Driving with More than 80 mgs. of Alcohol in Blood contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He was issued a 90 day ADLS suspension and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days. Frank was released from custody and was compelled to attend court in March.

On Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at approximately 01:29 a.m., members of the Greater Sudbury Police Service responded to a single motor vehicle collision in the area of Whittaker St., Sudbury. The female driver of the silver 2000 Honda Accord was located and found to have been drinking. The driver was taken into custody at the scene and escorted to police headquarters. The results of the breath tests indicated that she was over twice the legal limit.

Kacy Blok (21yrs) was charged with Driving with More than 80mgs of Alcohol in Blood and Care or Control While Impaired contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. She was issued a 90 day ADLS suspension and her vehicle was impounded for 7 days. Blok was released from custody and was compelled to attend court in March.

On Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at approximately 02:35 a.m. members of the Greater Sudbury Police Service responded to a single motor vehicle collision in the area of Lillian Blvd., Sudbury. The female driver of the grey 2000 Chrysler UCC was located and found to have been drinking. The roadside test resulted in a Fail. The driver was taken into custody at the scene and escorted to police headquarters. The results of the breath tests indicated that the driver was over twice the legal limit.

Diane Gratton (46yrs) was charged with Driving While Ability Impaired and Driving with More than 80 mgs. of Alcohol in Blood contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. She was issued a 90 day ADLS suspension and her vehicle was impounded for 7 days. Gratton was released from custody and was compelled to attend court in March.

On Sunday, March 23, 2014 at approximately 03:36 a.m. members of the Greater Sudbury Police Service responded to a possible impaired driver in the area of Weller St., Sudbury. The male driver of the red 2007 Chevrolet Silverado was located and found to have been drinking. The driver was taken into custody at the scene and escorted to police headquarters. The results of the breath tests indicated that the driver was twice the legal limit.

Matthew Kopsala (22yrs) was charged with Driving While Ability Impaired and Driving with More than 80 mgs of Alcohol in Blood contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He was issued a 90 day ADLS suspension and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days. Kopsala was released from custody and was compelled to attend court in March.

On Sunday, March 30, 2014 at approximately 05:50 a.m., members of the Greater Sudbury Police Service responded to an erratic driving complaint in the area of Lasalle Blvd., Sudbury. The male driver of the red 2009 Dodge CTX was located and found to have been drinking. The roadside test resulted in a Fail. The driver was taken into custody at the scene and escorted to police headquarters. The results of the breath tests indicated that the driver was over twice the legal limit.

Derek Jackson (24yrs) was charged with Care of control While Impaired, Care or Control Over 80 mgs. contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada and a Highway Traffic Act Offence. He was issued a 90 day ADLS suspension and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days. Jackson was held for Bail Court that morning.

On Sunday, March 30, 2014 at approximately 11:10 p.m., members of the Greater Sudbury Police Service responded to a possible impaired driver in the area of Balsam St., Copper Cliff. The female driver of the black 1999 Chevrolet Blazer was located and found to have been drinking. The roadside test resulted in a Fail. The driver was taken into custody at the scene and escorted to police headquarters. The results of the breath tests indicated that the driver was almost twice the legal limit.

Elizabeth Shawanda (49yrs) was charged with Driving While Ability Impaired, Driving with More than 80 mgs. of Alcohol in Blood contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada and other criminal and Highway Traffic Act offences. She was issued a 90 day ADLS suspension and her vehicle was impounded for 7 days. Shawanda was released from custody and was compelled to attend court April 9.
