Police use spike belt to end downtown pursuit #Sudbury

Greater Sudbury Police Service was involved in a pursuit following reports of a vehicle driving erratically in the downtown.
The driver allegedly ran several vehicles off the road along Notre Dame and proceeded to drive around in circles in the intersection of Elm Street and Paris Street before speeding of with police in pursuit.

Sources tell GSO that police deployed a spike belt near the intersection of Kathleen and Mackenzie in order to stop a vehicle that they were pursuing and the driver continued driving a short distance.

Police have confirmed that the driver was successfully stopped a short time later and was taken into custody for multiple traffic violations.

Police say no injuries have been reported and that 2 citizen's vehicles have been reported damaged. Two police vehicles are received minor damage while stopping the vehicle.

Anybody witnessing or sustaining damage due to this incident are asked to contact police.
