The Confederation Secondary School Evolutionary Band will take to the stage on Saturday, May 10, 2014, for the annual Mother’s Day Concert for the 34th consecutive year. The concert will begin at 7 pm in the gym at Confederation Secondary School, 1918 Main Street West, in Val Caron. Doors will open at 6 pm. Listen to Q92 for a chance to win tickets.
The evening, hosted by Q92’s Mellaney Dahl, will kick off with a local group from Valley View Public School. The band, aptly named Changes, was created in 2007, the same year that the new green school opened.
"Evolutionary’s level of musicianship and technical expertise continues to be at an all-time high," says Music Director Norm McIntosh. "We look forward to another outstanding performance by the band and crew as we present our annual tribute to mothers in our community.” He adds: “Proceeds from the Mother’s Day Concert will help defray the costs of Evolutionary’s four-day tour at the end of May.”
Tickets for the Mother’s Day Concert, at $15 each, are available from members of the band and crew, the main office at Confederation Secondary School, Jett Landry Music in Sudbury and Hanmer Home Hardware in the Hanmer Shopping Mall. Tickets will also be available at the door. To ensure your seats at this must-see performance, be sure to purchase your tickets early. The Mother’s Day Concert has been SOLD OUT in the past.
Evolutionary is a 27-piece rock band which includes four vocalists, a 10 piece rhythm section, a 13 piece horn section and is supported by a 13 member stage crew. As Action Sudbury’s “No Drinking and Driving” Band, Evolutionary has earned a solid reputation for its dynamic performances.
Evolutionary was featured in the Jan/Feb. issue of Canadian Musician Magazine and received a recent visit by documentary producer Jonathon Hiltz who saw them in action at one of their concerts.
The band tours from March until June, performing in front of more than 8,000 students per year. Their shows include a high energy, choreographed presentation with an exciting light display including lasers, strobes, smoke machines and intelligent lighting. The band’s set runs 90 minutes and this year features an all-Canadian set-list including artists such as Airbourne, ACDC, Michael Jackson, Billy Talent, Three Days Grace, Aerosmith, Stone Temple Pilots, Monster Truck Band, Danko Jones and Shinedown.
