53-year-old Sudbury man arrested on human trafficking related offences

A 53-year-old Greater Sudbury man was arrested on human trafficking related charges following an investigation by Greater Sudbury Police after service received reports from a survivor of multiple sexual assaults and incidents of forcible confinement.

Following the investigation, a search warrant was executed at a residence in Minnow Lake where officers arrested an individual. During the course of the search officers located and sized 14 grams of Cocaine with an approximate street value of $1,400.

53-year-old, Douglas Bright of Greater Sudbury has been charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada:
• Sexual assault
• Sexual assault with a weapon
• Human trafficking
• Forcible confinement
• Impeding attempt to save a life
• Possession for the purpose of trafficking a schedule I substance
• Possession of a schedule I substance

Douglas Bright appeared in bail court on October 5, 2023 to answer to the charges.
