SUDBURY – In response to the overwhelming number of complaints his office has received since 2008 regarding the skyrocketing cost of gas in Sudbury, today NDP MP Glenn Thibeault launched www.sudburygasprices.ca as the next phase of his efforts to ensure price fairness for Sudbury drivers.
According to Thibeault, ``Since my election as the MP for Sudbury in 2008, the number one issue which has been raised with me by constituents is the outrageous price of gas``.
Over this period, the price of gas in Sudbury has gone from an average of$1.09 per litre to over $1.40 per litre.
`` That`s why in November I requested that Canada`s Competition Bureau undertake an investigation into the retail price of gas in Sudbury to confirm what so many of us had long suspected, that gas prices in our community were being artificially inflated. Unfortunately, due to a low volume of complaints, the Bureau stated an investigation was not warranted at that time``.
Thibeault is now encouraging members of the community to join his call for a thorough investigation by the Competition Bureau to ensure fairness for Sudbury drivers.
