Two Greater Sudbury Police Service Officers Charged in Fraud Investigation

The Greater Sudbury Police Service (GSPS) has laid charges against two GSPS police officers following a criminal investigation regarding the alleged misuse of company insurance benefits.

In August 2015, the GSPS Professional Standards Bureau began an investigation into the activities of the two involved officers after receiving complaints from our benefits provider. As a result of this investigation both members had been assigned to non-operational duties.

“As the Chief of Police for the Greater Sudbury Police Service I am extremely disappointed that two of our officers have been charged criminally. I also want to reassure our community that we are an organization that is accountable and transparent, and further that we will not tolerate this type of behavior. I have confidence in the judicial systems and processes in place to deal with these matters” - Chief Paul Pedersen

On Tuesday the 22nd of September 2015, Constable Kathryn HOWARD and Constable Christopher LABRECHE were arrested for the offences of Fraud and Utter Forged Document.

These officers will be appearing in court on October 28th, 2015.
