Ottawa man charged in multi-vehicle collision in Wahnapitae

(SUDBURY, ON) – At approximately 7:25 p.m., on November 7, 2015, members from the Sudbury Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a three vehicle personal injury motor vehicle collision on Highway 17, in the town of Wahnapitae.

The collision closed the highway for approximately an hour and a half and was re-opened around 9:55pm.
Investigation revealed that a passenger car travelling west on Highway 17 crossed the centre line and collided with an oncoming eastbound pickup truck. A third vehicle, a passenger car travelling eastbound on Highway 17 then collided with the rear of the pickup truck.
Occupants from all three vehicles were transported to hospital by Emergency Medical Services (EMS) with non-life threatening injuries.
As a result of the investigation, Aaron PELTIER, 33 years of age, from Ottawa, was arrested and charged with the following:
1) Adult Driving While Disqualified – Court Order, contrary to the Criminal Code.
2) Careless Driving, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
3) Adult Driving While Under Suspension, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
Peltier’s vehicle was impounded for 45 days under the Vehicle Impoundment Program (VIP).
The accused was held in custody and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sudbury, on November 9, 2015 to answer to his charges.
