Police Dog Scout Captures Fleeing Suspect

On the 24th of November 2015 at approximately 11:30 a.m., Greater Sudbury Police Service Patrol officers responded to a Motor Vehicle Collision on Falconbridge Highway in Garson.
Upon arrival, it was learned that a male driver from one of the involved vehicles had fled the area on foot.
In order to arrest the fleeing suspect, the Greater Sudbury Police Service’s Dog Scout and his handler attended the scene and began tracking the suspect. Scout tracked this person over several kilometers of both bush and residential area and after thirty-five minutes he located the suspect who was attempting to hide but was immediately arrested.
As a result of this investigation, a 28- year-old man from the City of Greater Sudbury has been charged with the following offences:
• Fail to Remain at Collision - Section 252 - Criminal Code of Canada
• Breach of Probation - Section 733.1 - Criminal Code of Canada
• Drive Motor Vehicle – No Licence - Section 32(1) - Highway Traffic Act of Ontario
• Careless Driving - Section 130 - Highway Traffic Act of Ontario
This male was held in custody and will be appearing in court this morning.
There were no serious injuries as a result of this two vehicle collision.
