Union Gas EnerSmart Program Gives $48,921 to the City of Greater Sudbury

Energy incentive rebates to-date amount to $79,118

SUDBURY, ON – December 16, 2015 – Union Gas presented a cheque for $48,921 to Greater Sudbury Mayor Brian Bigger at yesterday’s city council meeting. The funds are courtesy of the Union Gas EnerSmart program which offers incentives to its municipal, commercial and industrial customers to implement projects that will use natural gas more efficiently, reducing energy costs and emissions. Combined with rebates of $30,197 paid in 2013, the City of Greater Sudbury has received incentives payments to-date totalling $79,118.

The current rebate amount is the result of the City of Greater Sudbury completing energy assessments at 21 facilities and for completing the installation of new natural gas saving equipment such as infra-red heaters, high-efficiency boilers and water heaters along with heat and energy recovery equipment at five of their facilities. “Thank you to the Union Gas EnerSmart program for these incentive funds,” said Greater Sudbury Mayor Brian Bigger. “We will continue to work with Union Gas to identify and implement upgrades to our natural gas equipment so that we can further reduce our energy costs year-over-year. At the same time, we are reducing our environmental impact and ensuring a better future for our community.”

“Union Gas wants to remind everyone that the efficient use of natural gas can help reduce energy costs and conserve energy. Our entire team are proud of today’s announcement and look forward to a greater partnership with the City of Greater Sudbury in the future” said Gerald LaForest, commercial industrial account manager, Union Gas.
